Project Management Overview
(1 Day)

Course Description:
Project management skills have become a recognized and valuable asset in today’s business environment. Although no one can learn project management in a day, this workshop will introduce you to some practical tools and techniques for planning and executing successful projects. The session will highlight key project management principles including: scope planning, developing a project charter and project plan, assessing project risks, developing a schedule and budget, and monitoring and controlling the project. A case study is used throughout the day to illustrate key points.

Not every project is alike. The course will compare and contrast the planning activities needed for small, short-term projects, projects of medium complexity, and large projects of high complexity. Appropriate tools and techniques for each type of project will be highlighted. Key project participants will be identified, along with their roles and project responsibilities. Finally, the course will share some proven techniques for successfully working together as a team.

The course covers processes & knowledge areas that are consistent with “A Guide to the Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK Guide®).”
